Warmest greetings.

PeaceTech 2 is being held on August 28 in the same places as PeaceTech 1 – USM, Kabacan, and UP Diliman, Quezon City. PeaceTech 2’s (PT2) theme is Prejudice and Discrimination towards Muslims, IPs and Christians in the Philippines

I am contacting you for your assistance on finding panelists for PeaceTech 2. The Peace Education Center of Miriam College is finding three panelists for the event. I am finding three others.

The three panelists I am looking for are:
1) An IP victim of discrimination from either Mindanao, the Cordillera or Metro Manila;
2) A community worker in Manila who works on building greater understanding and tolerance between Muslims and Christians; and
3) A success story from Mindanao. This person was either a victim of discrimination or guilty of discrimination. He/she has forgiven or changed his ways and is now doing something positive towards building tolerance.

The more powerful, visual, recent, and personal the story, the greater the effect it has. In PeaceTech 1, one of our panelists made the cover page of the Philippine Star because her story was graphic and because it was about one event that the audience could easily visualize.

The purpose of the story-telling is to:
1) represent the extent of discrimination that IPs and Muslims suffer in the Philippines; and
2) show that there are young people who are taking positive actions to build greater understanding and forgiveness.

Each panelist has five minutes to tell his/her story in a panel of six story tellers. The stories are heard by hundreds of youth in Luzon and Mindanao and are sometimes picked up by the media.

The three panelists I am looking for must be children or youth under 30 years old. They can speak in their own languages and don’t need to speak Tagalog or English – we will have a translator if necessary. And naturally, they cannot be too shy so they can speak in front of many people.

We would need the panelist confirmed by August 18th.

PeaceTech would cover all expenses involved in finding, transporting and accommodating the candidate.

Is there any way that you could help me find one of the above three mentioned panelists over the next few days? I will reimburse you for any expenses you incur.

I do appreciate your help. The more powerful the story we find, the greater the effect of the series.
